Hannah and I have been working on this for a while and we are really excited for this move. Our original hosting platform BookClubs was great and still comes with a high recommendation from us for anyone looking to start or join a book club but we thought it was time to switch things up.
We have been lowkey using the Fable app for the past few months and I have to be honest, we both love it. It is user friendly, well designed and it has so many cool features that we look forward to exploring with you but I will tell you about a few of my favorites right now, if you’re interested.
Here are my 3 favorite features (so far…)
Reading Insights - So Fable lets you track your reading similarly to GoodReads and offers shareable insights similar to Storygraph all in one pretty place. Your insights show your most read genres/authors, average ratings and your reads per month but the most fun part? Every time you log a book, your personalized “reader summary” gets updated. Here’s a few of mine over the past few weeks Oh and did I mention how pretty everything is?
Book Club - aka the main reason for our move, the book club hosting feature. Not only is Fable’s app super pretty, the set up of the book clubs feel very streamlined and easy to navigate. When you select a book, you have chapter chats where you can discuss the book while you read without the risk of encountering spoilers. Fable also has this amazing feature where you can purchase the interactive ebook through Fable, read it in the Fable app, annotate/highlight things while you read and see notes made by other members who opted to read in the Fable app too! You get to sample a few chapters of those interactive books before you buy them too! And if you invite folks to our Fable book club, you give them a $5 credit and you earn a $5 credit. I could go on and on. There’s a lot of fun to be had here and I am excited for you to explore the app and find things you love.
Watch Club - speaking of fun, there is also the option to host a watch club through Fable. You can choose from a ton of movies or shows. My sister and I are currently doing this with the first season of Gilmore Girls. Similar to the book club set up, it breaks the shows down by season and episode, so you can discuss without threat of spoilers. I definitely plan to use this feature in the future to form a Weirdo Watch Club and I can’t wait.
If you’re wary of this or don’t want to follow us to Fable, that’s ok, we understand. Aside from this newsletter, we do also have a really fun community on Discord where I will post updates and info. on book club related things if you’d be interested in that! That will also be how we host the future watch parties that we plan to do.
We loved our time with BookClubs but are so excited for this new chapter (get it?) with Fable. We’ve already picked our August read that we are so looking forward to and we hope to see you there! If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to leave it in the comments or find us on Instagram or Tiktok and we can chat there.
Thanks for reading with us!
