For the month of May, we selected to read The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, a psychological thriller about a happily married, successful, creative woman who murders her also happy, successful, creative husband in cold blood, never speaks a word again and the psychologist who is obsessed with figuring out why.
I felt uneasy right from the start; Michaelides did a great job at building suspense. I will say that at times, the book dragged a little and by the time everything was being revealed, I had kind of already formed solid suspicions (aka I was right) so that is why it wasn’t rated higher for me. That and the fact that I still don’t fully understand the wife’s silence? I don’t know, that could just be a ME thing. I still thought the book and story were great and do recommend it if you’re into psychological thrillers.
